CCS Building Group was engaged by Willow Valley Communities to refresh its North Garden Apartments as part of its ten- year renovations program. Contradicting the “garden” feel, some of the challenges in the original building had been a lack of natural light, dark wood accents and the use of dark heavy furniture. The renovation project cut a two-story Palladian window into the back of the building enabling views of the surrounding farmland. The library was relocated to this new, brighter space, furniture was replaced, colors were lightened and the fireplace was relocated to the entry lobby.
Other amenities included an enhancement of the common kitchen to create a more inviting space and to allow for the community to offer continental breakfast. The exercise area was revamped and improved. Finally, a media area was created on the lower level with a wet-bar and wide screen TVs designed to create greater connection with existing patio seating and an outdoor grill.
